Growing up Catholic in Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Jo Pane never imagined that one day she would find herself making modern, spiritually inspired jewelry by hand in a New York City apartment. Veteran blues and jazz guitarist Walter Parks hails from northern Florida, where the Okefenokee Swamp is thick with palmettos, alligators and snakes, and his musical sound can be just as gnarly, just as raw and rootsy. Perhaps best known as Woodstock legend Richie Havens’ lead guitarist, for whom he honed a banjo fingerpicking style, Walter’s music is a swampy stew of growl, rasp, heat, and falsetto.
